75×75x12m Steel Warehouse Solution in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea
In January 2026, Honstar received an inquiry from a client in Papua New Guinea. The message only was brief:“We need a 75×75×12 steel warehouse. Location: Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea.”No further
technical details were provided.
After receiving the email, HONSTAR team responded immediately with a professional and detailed reply. As an experienced industrial metal building supplier, Honstar provides various types of prefabricated steel
buildings, including steel warehouses, steel workshops, industrial sheds, and aircraft hangars.
Before proceeding with a quotation, we conducted a preliminary analysis of the local design conditions.
Project Location and Environmental Conditions:
The project site is located in Port Moresby, the capital and largest city of Papua New Guinea.
Port Moresby lies on a narrow coastal plain between the sea and the foothills of the Owen Stanley Range. Surrounded by water on two sides, it has a tropical climate with relatively small seasonal temperature variation.
Climate data:
Annual average temperature: 24–34°C
Annual rainfall: approximately 1,197 mm
Dry season: May to October
Rainy season: December to March
Transitional months: April and November
During the rainy season, rainfall is frequent and heavy. The city is also located in a seismic activity zone, which requires enhanced structural design considerations.
Based on meteorological data for a 50-year return period, the design wind speed was determined to be 40m/s.
In our reply email, we listed all major design parameters for confirmation, including:
Design wind speed and seismic intensity
Door quantity and type
Window materials
Rainwater gutter system
Skylight panels
Roof ventilators
Ten minutes after sending the email, the client replied and confirmed:
Wind speed: 144 km/h (40 m/s)
Snow load: None
Seismic intensity: Grade 8
For other specifications, the client requested that we proceed with design proposals based on our engineering experience and budget considerations.
Considering the 75-meter building width and the heavy rainfall during the wet season, our engineers adopted a three-span configuration (25m + 25m + 25m) combined with an internal gutter system.
A 10% roof slope was designed to ensure efficient rainwater drainage during peak rainfall periods, reducing long-term maintenance risks.
Based on the client's budget, two design options were prepared

The main structural materials for both options are identical
Steel Columns: Combination of equal-section H300×200×6×8 and tapered H(400–500)×350×8×10 sections, designed to carry vertical loads efficiently.
Steel Beams: Tapered H(550–350)×250×8×10 sections, responsible for transferring horizontal loads.
Tie Rods: Circular steel pipes Φ152×5.
Column Bracing: Galvanized circular steel Φ32×2.5 for flexible bracing.
Roof Bracing: Galvanized round steel Φ12 arranged in herringbone or K-type configurations, forming a stable and continuous load-resisting system.
Roof and Wall Panels: V840 type 0.7mm nominal thickness corrugated galvanized steel sheets, white-grey color, with integrated waterproof cavity design.
Daylighting System: 1.2mm thick FRP skylight panels matched to the roof profile.
Purlins:Galvanized Z-section steel 200×70×20×3.
Angle Bracing: Galvanized angle steel L50×5 to control out-of-plane deformation of flanges.
Anchor Bolts: Six M24 anchor bolts (1 meter length) per column, embedded in reinforced concrete foundation.
Column Base Connection: Pinned connections transfer vertical loads only; rigid connections are used where moment resistance is required.
Through structural optimization and careful material selection, the total project cost was controlled within USD 50–55 per square meter, meeting the client’s budget expectations.
As a professional warehouse contractor in China, Honstar provides full technical support for overseas steel structure projects.
Our engineering team holds China’s highest-level construction qualification certificates. We provide:
Architectural drawings
Structural drawings
Foundation drawings
Installation drawings
These documents can assist clients in obtaining local government approvals.
For overseas projects, we can dispatch installation engineers to the construction site to:
Guide installation
Train local workers
Explain drawings and technical details
Provide on-site technical support
The project manager, Mr. Jeremy, commented:
“I am really lucky to have stumbled upon your company. I assure you that I will work with you, God willing.”
The project is currently under fabrication in our factory.
We welcome clients worldwide who are planning steel building projects. Honstar can be reached through Google, Facebook, and other online platforms for further cooperation.
1. When the client confirm the quotation with every details, we will sign a contract and issue the Proforma invoice for bank payment.
2. After receiving the deposit payment, firstly we need 7 days to design full set of drawings including the architecture drawing, structural drawing and foundation drawing. Then our factory will manufacture the all needed steel structures within 21-42days, depending on project sizes.
3. Once we complete the drawings, we'll send the foundation drawing to you immediately, at the same time, your side begin to do the foundation part on your site according to our drawing.
4. When the materials are ready, you can come to our factory (or let third-party come) for checking them, then you should make the balance payment before shipment. When we receive the balance payment we will book the ship, do the packing and loading under the guidance of our technical department.
5. When all the materials in containers arrived at your construction site, your foundation had been done. At the same time, we will assign 2 engineers to your construction site for supporting the installation works. They'll train your workers, explain the drawings and do the main installation works, your local workers can follow them.
